Dust
Dust settles under the sofa
accumulating
beneath the chairs.
Flaky dust falls from the walls
of the gloomy kitchen.
After the vacuum
dust peaks out from it's fortress
the desk
and settles,
again,
the calm on everything.
Dark computer screens
cast a dim, dusty glow
from beneath the layers
of dust
upon them.
Dust falls on the scraps
and denies a toy
was here.
Wind blows from a cracked window
covered in dust.
It is the dust of the fluff-
And, on warm days, sand,
the gritty cousin to dust
Inspired by the poem Dust by Gary Short.
